Overview:
Sometimes an individual, who may or may not otherwise be prohibited from purchasing a firearm, may try and have a different individual make this purchase on their behalf. This is known as a straw purchase and is illegal! Thus it is important that all employees know how to recognize and avoid potential straw purchases and maintain compliance with their Type 2 Federal Firearms License (FFL). This course educates employees on how to identify red flags that may indicate straw purchases and what to do if a customer tries to make this type of illegal transaction.
Objectives:
- Identify the red flags that may indicate a straw purchase.
- Describe how to avoid falling prey to a straw purchase scheme.
- List the responsibilities a pawnbroker has for reporting and recording information if they suspect a straw purchase.
