This 20-minute exercise was developed by Dr. Robert Hartman, who was recognized with a Nobel Prize for his work in this area. By factoring the applicant’s value system, it uniquely measures trustworthiness, dependability, initiative, interpersonal skills, results-orientation, and tendencies related to the adherence of policies and procedures.
It has replaced several traditional integrity tests as a result of its accuracy. Its reliability stems from the fact that, unlike ordinary “self-analysis” tests, it cannot be manipulated by candidates.
In order to avoid theft, costly regulatory fines and/or sanctions, it is imperative that employers hire trustworthy tellers who will consistently achieve low and infrequent instances of drawer or vault shortages. Furthermore, it’s critical that employers employ individuals with a strong propensity to adhere to policies, so that inappropriate transactions are rare and not due to policy or procedure violations.
